Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, March 26, 2022, at Rude's Funeral Home in Brookings and will be livestreamed through Rude's Funeral Home Facebook page. 'Jerry' Jefferis was born January 3, 1960, in Volga, SD, the son of Marvel and Iola (Rudebusch) Jefferis. He was baptized and confirmed in Mt. Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church in Estelline. He graduated from Estelline High School in 1978, where he participated in football, basketball, and track. He held the school record for 30 years in the 800-meter run. Jerry furthered his education at South Dakota State University. While in college, he worked for his namesake, grandpa, Jerry Jefferis at Dakota Woolgrowers. He graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Agricultural Finance. Jerry went to work for banks in Madison, SD and St. James, MN before moving to Denver, CO. In Denver, Jerry continued his education at the University of Colorado receiving a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) in finance. He then attended the University of Denver receiving a Master's Degree in taxation. He continued his career at various accounting firms in Denver as a CPA, tax manager, tax director, Director Corporate Tax, and Vice President of Tax at CoBank. Jerry enjoyed running, working out, mountain bike riding, golfing, hunting turkey, pheasants, and deer, with both rifle and bow. He loved the outdoors and spent as much time as possible enjoying various pursuits. He was a hard worker and a perfectionist. He had a special relationship with his parents. He is survived by his siblings, Richard (Dee) Jefferis of Parker, SD, Marilyn (Wayne) Thue of Hayti, SD, Wayne (Sandy) Jefferis of South Sioux City, NE, Cheryl Jefferis of Sioux Falls, SD, Ronald Jefferis of Brookings, SD, and Linda (Roger) Anderson of Rapid City, SD along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvel and Iola Jefferis. - Rudes Funeral Home
