Iola Katherine Rudebusch was born on April 10, 1923 in Bruce, SD the daughter of George and Minnie (Meinders) Rudebusch. Iola attended rural school near Bruce and was a graduate of the Bruce High School in 1941. She was united in marriage to Marvel Jefferis on November 12, 1942 in Huron, SD. After their marriage they farmed near Estelline, SD until their retirement. She was a member of the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Estelline. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, and especially spending time with family and friends. Iola also enjoyed the World Series Baseball games (especially the Twins). The Radio and TV brought the music of Lawrence Welk, Tennessee Ernie Ford, and the Statler Brothers. As hard as she worked raising her family, she never complained. Her husband could always make her laugh and get that twinkle in her eye. Iola was always gentle spirited, kind and caring. She was devoted to her husband, family and God. Iola is survived by her husband, Marvel Jefferis of Bruce, SD; four sons, Richard (Dinah) Jefferis of Parker, SD, Wayne (Sandy) Jefferis of South Sioux City, NE, Ronald Jefferis of Bruce, SD and Jerry Jefferis of Denver, CO; three daughters, Marilyn (Wayne) Thue of Hayti, SD, Cheryl Jefferis of Sioux Falls, SD and Linda (Roger) Anderson of Rapid City, SD; fourteen grandchildren; twenty four great grandchildren. Iola was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Clinton, LeRoy and Melvin and her sister Georgia Perry. - Rudes Funeral Home
