He was born on August 25, 1920 to the late Darley and Anna Katherine (Baus) Woodgeard. Gerald was a member of the St. Mark Catholic Church. He was a World Was II Army Veteran. He retired as a mail carrier after 42 years of service. Gerald was a founder of the Fairfield Co.(O) Federal Employees Creit Union. He was the Treasurer there for over 50 years. Woodgeard, 89, of Lancaster, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at the Homestead and Rehabilitation Centre. He was born on August 25, 1920 to the late Darley and Anna Katherine (Baus) Woodgeard. Gerald was a member of the St. Mark Catholic Church. He was a World Was II Army Veteran. Gerald served on the 619 board as well as the Lancaster City Schools Board of Education. He is survived by loving wife of 68 years Helen L. (Sheets) Woodgeard; son, Gerald "Jerry" Woodgeard of Lancaster, Ohio; grandchildren, Stacie (John) Ball of Pittsburg and Kellie (Tony) Vogel of Lancaster, Ohio; great-grandchildren, Zachary, Bryson and Brooke Vogel, Jacob, Joshua, Luke and Nathan Ball; sister, Jan Ridgeway; sisters-in-law, Marcella Oberdorfer and Ida Clara Falk; brother-in-law, Francis Sheets; numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Gerald was preceded in death by father and mother-in-law, Russell and Gretchen Sheets; brother, Darley (Margaret) Woodgeard; sister, Margie (Jack) West; brothers-in-law, Gary Ridgeway, Paul Oberdorfer III and Earl Sheets; sister-in-law, Bernice Sheets. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, July 30, 2010 at the St. Mark Catholic Church with Fr. Peter M. Gideon as Celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Lancaster, Ohio. Family will receive friends on Thursday, July 29 from 4-8 P.M. at the Sheridan Funeral Home, Lancaster, Ohio where a vigil service will be held at 7:30 P.M. Memorial Contributions may be made to Fisher Catholic Athetic Fund or to the American Heart Association in Gerald's Memory. He was a 1938 graduate of Lancaster High School and School Colors were Purple and Gold.
