Description	:	RAVENNA — Gerald Charles Ripp, 91, of Ravenna died Thursday, May 1, 2014, at his home southwest of Ravenna. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Ravenna. The Rev. Martin Egging will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary's Prairie Center Cemetery. Rosary will be at 5 p.m. Sunday at the church. Rasmussen Funeral Home in Ravenna is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Ripp was born March 13, 1923, in Buffalo County to Joseph and Matilda (Schram) Ripp. Survivors include his wife, Catherine; daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Herb Dixon and Janet and Gregg Hanna; sons and daughters-in-law, Terry Ripp, Ronald and Janelle Ripp, Steve and Connie Ripp, Donald and Janece Ripp, Scott and Angie Ripp, Mark and Wendy Ripp and Tim and Jennifer Ripp; and 25 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Also surviving are nieces and nephews and sisters-in-law, Ruth Ripp, Joan Kriha and Betty and Greg Paitz. Mr. Ripp was educated in Pleasanton and graduated from Pleasanton High School in 1942. He served in the U.S. Army with occupation forces in Tokyo, Japan. He married Catherine Kriha on June 30, 1948, at St. Wenceslaus Church. They made their home on a farm south of Poole. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church, served as a commander for the American Legion, was a member of the V.F.W. 5820 and served on the Township Board. He was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws, Charles and Helen Kriha; siblings and their spouses, Sylvester and Hazel Ripp, Doris Ripp, Jerome Ripp, Duane and Lynn Ripp and Phyllis and Jack Carlson; a brother-in-law, Robert Kriha; and a granddaughter, Sara Jane Dixon.
