Description	:	Gerald (Jerry) Staehr went to heaven on June 3, 2018. He was born in York on Nov. 10, 1935, to Alfred and Grace (Dey) Staehr. After graduating from York High School, he passed on several college football scholarships to serve in the Army. He married Marilyn Toombs on March 1, 1959. Together, they had five children. He and his brother, Ron, started Ron & Jerry’s Plumbing and Well Drilling in 1972. Together they were known as the “Preaching Plumbers.” He loved Friday morning Bible study, telling stories, playing cards, fishing, hunting, reading history books, going to the races and talking about Jesus. After graduating from York High School, he passed on several college football scholarships to serve in the Army. He married Marilyn Toombs on March 1, 1959. Together, they had five children. He and his brother, Ron, started Ron & Jerry’s Plumbing and Well Drilling in 1972. Going before him to heaven were his wife of 54 years, Marilyn; his parents; sisters, Donna (Glen) Rathje and Elaine Staehr; brothers, Ron, Dennis, Robert, David and Douglas. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Linda (Daryl) Wilton, Ben (Bre), Edie and Louise Wilton, Jennifer (Jeff), Emilee, Caitlyn McKenzie, Greg (Deb), Carston Staehr, Arin Staehr, Kathy (Rex) and Reagan Pruitt, Robin Staehr and special friend, Teresa Myers, Renee (Ron), Ellen, Ruby and Georgie Brennan. Also surviving are brothers, Gene (Sandy) Staehr of York, Keith (Cynthia) Staehr of Kimball; sisters, Delores (Richard) Bartholomew of Seward, Joyce (Denny) Riekenberg of Hordville, Mary (Scott) Chew of Florida; good friend, Jay D. Brown of Washington; and many nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Services were held Aug. 11, 2018, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church.
