POLLY~ Sioux Falls, SD; Died: Saturday, July 1, 2006, Sioux Falls, SD; Age: 86 years, 3 months, 2 days Gerald Everette Polly, son of Lloyd and Vivian (Gravelle) Polly, was born March 29, 1920 in Homer, NE. He grew up there and graduated from Homer High School in 1938. Gerald moved with his family to a farm near Brandon, SD in 1939 and helped his father on the farm. Gerald was united in marriage with Martha Ruth Tieszen in Dakota City, NE on August 12, 1941. The couple lived on the family farm before moving to Sioux Falls, SD in 1955. Gerald worked at John Morrell and Company from 1950 until retiring in 1983. Following retirement, the couple owned and operated Polly's Plants for four years. Gerald was a member of Beaver Valley Lutheran Church. He enjoyed fishing and gardening, especially tending his roses. Gerald and Martha also traveled extensively, making many trips to Alaska and other parts of the country. Grateful for having shared his life are four children, Gary Polly and his wife, Bonnie, Elkhorn, NE, Cheryl Hluchy and her husband, Mike, Sioux Falls, SD, David Polly and his wife, Maria, North Pole, AK, Beth Bott and her husband, Joe, Sioux Falls, SD; 11 grandchildren, Angie Justice and her husband, Greg, Lynn Dillon and her husband, Todd, Susan Gant and her husband, David, Kim Polly, Todd Polly and his wife, Karen, Michael Hluchy and his wife, Claudean, Nicholas Hluchy and his wife, Yvette, B. Zebulon Polly, Joed Polly, Travis Bott, Megan Bott; 8 great-grandchildren, Barbara, Sydney, Cory, Elizabeth, Garrett, Morgan, Marcus, Michael; and a host of other relatives and friends.
