Description	:	Gerald Wayne Kirk, Sr., 77, of Letts, passed away on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at 10:30 A.M. at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. Burial will be in Letts Cemetery with military rites. Following the interment a time of food and fellowship will be held at the Letts Community Center. Gerald Wayne Kirk, Sr. was born on June 2, 1938, in Muscatine, Iowa, the son of Glenn Wayne and Alberta (Schell) Kirk. On February 13, 1957, Gerald was united in marriage to Darlene Kay Holliday in Oakland, California. Gerald served his country in the United States Navy serving aboard the USS Gregory Destroyer and a cargo ship. Gerald was a pipefitter/welder helping build Monsanto, GPC and most nuclear plants. He was a member of the Local Union 25 and the masonic organization. Gerald was very active in the Letts community and volunteer as site director of the Letts Community Building and Park Building projects. He attended Glad Tiding Church and enjoyed fishing, gardening, and woodworking. He also enjoyed working on his trike and could fix anything with his hands. Gerald will be deeply missed by his wife of 59 years, Darlene; children, Tammy (Ray) Haile, Lisa (Tom) Steen, Jerry (Christine) Kirk, Jr., and Randy (Trish Farriell) Kirk; grandchildren, Amanda (John) Hathaway, Chance Scearcy, Brandy (Austin) Scearcy, Renee (Rob) Kirk, Jesse (Kristy) Kirk, Tara (Jake) Schubick, Joshua Kirk, Alex Hafner, Molly Kirk, and Emily (Evan) Kirk; great-grandchildren, Dawn Hathaway Logan Hathaway, Levi Hathaway, Chaedyn Landtiser, Ashton Neel, Koleton Neel, Trenton Kirk, Alexis Kirk, Kylie Kirk, Tyler Hartz, Austin Hartz, Cassidy Newsom, Kolby Newsom, Audrey Betts, Lyla Lawrence, Riley Schubick, Gracynn Brown, Gryffin Brown, Dustinie Kirk, Madyson Wyatt, Emmett Peters, and Charlie Peters.
