Geraldine Delores Gollnick was born July 28, 1929, at Webster to T. J. and Margaret (Sass) Gollnick. As a youngster, she grew up on the family farm near Lily, and attended rural Day County schools. On Nov. 24, 1953, Geraldine was united in marriage with Daryl Steiner. They made their home on a farm near Clear Lake, north of Eden. In addition to raising her family, Geraldine also had worked at Schiltz Foods, Dakotah and Buffalo Lake Resort. Geraldine was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eden, and had been active in the Altar Society. She was an excellent cook and an avid gardener. She also greatly enjoyed bird watching. Above all else, Geraldine loved her family, especially spending time with her grandchildren. Grateful for having shared her life are her husband of 59 years, Daryl Steiner; her nine children: Blane Steiner, Doug (Tammie) Steiner, Mark (Kathy) Steiner, Susie Eckrich, Jane (Kent) Duerre, Sharon (Tim) Deutsch, Bonnie (Terry) Cleberg, Daron (Shari) Steiner, Brian (Kari) Steiner; her 10 grandchildren: Rebecca Dolney, Steven Steiner, Brian Eckrich, Max Eckrich, Breanna Gubbels, Bethany Lesnar, Alison Smidt, Evan Steiner, Avery Cleberg, Aryn Cleberg; two great-grandchildren: Leighton Dolney and MacKenzie Lesnar; three sisters: Olive Block, Georgia Janisch, Treva Bowling; and a brother, David Gollnick. Preceding her in death were her parents and four brothers: Ambrose, Raymond, Herman and Norbert Gollnick. Published by the Aberdeen News on October 18, 2013.
