Morgan, 77, formerly of Whiting, who died Saturday, April 15, 1995 at a nursing home in Topeka. She was born Dec. 30, 1917, in Horton, the daughter of Harry J and Zelda Duerden Schuetz. She was graduated from Horton High School in 1936 and Central Business College, Kansas City, Mo. Morgan, 77, formerly of Whiting, who died Saturday, April 15, 1995 at a nursing home in Topeka. She was born Dec. 30, 1917, in Horton, the daughter of Harry J and Zelda Duerden Schuetz. She was graduated from Horton High School in 1936 and Central Business College, Kansas City, Mo. She was a member of St. Dominic’s Catholic Church, Holton, where she was a member of the Altar Society and taught religion classes. She was active in the Whiting Senior Citizens organization and served on the board of Northeast Kansas Area Agency on Aging and the Jackson County Nursing Home board. Mrs. Morgan was recognized as the first woman to serve on the Kansas Selective Service board and was instrumental in organizing girls’ basketball cheerleaders at Holton High School. She was married to Laurel R. Morgan March 16, 1941, in Holton. He died June 2, 1982, She was also preceded in death by a son, Jerry Morgan, Nov. 28, 1989, and a grandson. Survivors include a son, Dale Morgan, Bella Vista, Ark.; a daughter, Dyana Morgan, Topeka; a grandson; and three great granddaughters. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery west of Holton. Mrs. Morgan will lie in state until 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home, where a parish rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
