Description	:	Gerda Irene "Gertie" Drew, 90, Noonan, died Friday, March 31, 2000, at the Noonan Good Samaritan Center where she had resided the past three and one-half years. Funeral services were held April 4 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Noonan, with Rev. Larry Glaeske officiating. Burial followed at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, rural Noonan. Gertie was born Dec. 25, 1909, on the family farm south of Noonan to Ira and Ida (Wells) Woodside. She was raised and educated at rural Noonan. She married Joe Steffins in 1927. Through the years Gertie worked at various places in the Noonan area along with being the matron at Noonan Good Samaritan Center. She married Vern Drew of Bowbells in 1963. Gerda was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church and was a longtime member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. She loved to fish, camp, do crafts, sew and bake. She is survived by four sons, Stanley (Sylvia) Steffins of Bothell, Wash., Donald (Cora Lee) Steffins of Mountlake Terrace, Wash., James (Carol) Steffins of Aberdeen, S.D., and David Steffins of Noonan; her daughter, Esther (Allen) Gochanour of Mountlake Terrace; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter; a sister, Susie Fenster of Noonan; a brother, Paul Woodside of Washington; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vern, in 1984; a son, Lyle; her parents; a sister, Elsie; and a brother Everett. (Posted in The Journal, Crosby, ND in April 2000)
