Lammers died at the home of his son, Bernard, in this city, early last Saturday morn- ing. On Thursday evening he complained of not feeling exactly right. Medical aid was summoned and the next morning he seemed considerably better. He was closely watched and given every attent- ion, and, on Friday night,here tired in good spirits and apparently in good health. But a change occurred during that night and the next morning it was evident that the end was near. It is thought he suffered a paralytic stroke during the night. In spite of every care and attention, he lived but a few hours thereafter. The deceased was born in Koverden, province of Drenthe, Netherlands, November 14, 1830. In 1853, he was married to Miss Anna Ellerman. He came to America with his family in 1868, settling near Jefferson City, Mo., and in the fall of 1882 removed to Cuming county. Viewed from every aspect, Mr. Lammers was an admirable man and citizen. He was true in every relation of life, upright and thoroughly honest, a kind husband, a good father, reflecting at all times the qualities of spendid manhood and useful citizen. He is survived by two sons, Herman of Pender and Bernard of this city and three daughter, Mrs. Frank Rise of Plainview, Mrs. Frank Boyer of this city and Mrs. George Reeson of Monterey township. Services and interment Monday morning, under Catholic auspices. The Republican offers condolences. Gerhard H. Lammers was born in Holland, Nov. 14, 1830. He died at his son Bernard's Saturday morning. He came to America in 1868, settling at Jefferson City, Mo. Twenty -four years ago last October he removed here, living on a farm for a time. He drove a milk route west of town for a number of years. He built a house near the old baseball park and he and his good wife lived there until her death about four years ago, when he moved into his son's house. And "grossvader" was much beloved in the household. He lived to see a number of his great grandchildren but heart remained fresh and young. He was a grand old man, honest and honorable. He was a member of the Roman Catholic Church from infancy and his faith was as firm as adamant. The morning mas was never neglected and he prayed with deepest devotion. He was a faithful and affectionate husband and father. The funeral was held Monday from St. Mary's Church, with requiem mass at 9 a.m. Burial was made in the family lot beside his wife. His children viz: H.J. of Pender, Mrs. Frank Risse of Plainview, and Bernard, Mrs. Frank Boyer and Mrs. George Reeson of this place, were present at the death and burial of their father.
