| Description | : | Although the headstone says "George", this is actually the grave of Gerhard (AKA Gerhardt, Gerhart, Gearhart in records). He left Germany and arrived at the port of Baltimore, Maryland. He then traveled to Hamilton, Butler County, Ohio, where he married Maria Klanke on March 4, 1842. Gerhard and Maria made their way to Laughery township, Ripley County, Indiana. Although he had started the process in Ohio, it was in Ripley County where Gerhard became a naturalized citizen.
