Gerhardt Paul "Gary" was born to Paul and Evelyn (Brauer) Narjes on October 5, 1949. He was baptized into Christ October 23, 1949 and was confirmed May 1963, all at Trinity Lutheran Church. Gerhardt Paul "Gary" was born to Paul and Evelyn (Brauer) Narjes on October 5, 1949. He was baptized into Christ October 23, 1949 and was confirmed May 1963, all at Trinity Lutheran Church. He attended Trinity Lutheran Parochial School until 8th grade then completed his high school education at Sidney High, graduating in 1967. Gary then attended Western Nebraska Technical College in Sidney receiving his degree in Aviation Mechanics with an Airframe and Power Plant expertise. That expertise was a guiding force when he entered the Army military branch, being selected as a crew chief on a classified experimental YO-3A aircraft project, a predecessor of the Stealth bomber. Following his service to our country, he returned to Sidney continuing his agricultural passion. First with his father, Paul, to the present with his sons, Ryan and Tyson, and wife Susan; Gary was extremely proud of being involved in a 5th generation agriculture operation and being a steward of the land God had placed in his hands. On June 21, 1980 Gary was united to marriage to Susan Luehrs in Sidney. Three sons: Kyle, Ryan and Tyson were born to this union. Together, they enjoyed raising their family on the family farm, watching the boys raise bottle calves, playing baseball in the yard and harvesting wheat as a family unit. Gary was active in the Trinity Lutheran Church: serving in officer positions, the Lutheran Laymen's League, on the cemetery board and as a volunteer. On a community level, he served on the FSA board, Farm Bureau Board, and as a 4-H Livestock Chairman. Gary was instrumental in many agricultural education programs with the area youth. Socially, he enjoyed gathering for meals and cards with both friends and extended family and treasured those relationships. His greatest joy was being a "Papa" to his "Grands". Whether it be playing a game, dancing at a reception, reading a book, explaining mechanics of farm equipment, or giving them a ride in his truck; all those moments filled his heart.
