Gerna Ruth Haswell Reida, daughter of George Haswell and Mamie Flaig Haswell, was born August 1, 1909, at Chariton, Iowa. Gerna received her education in Brooklyn except for three years when the family lived in Montana. She graduated from high school in the class of 1929. On October 30th, 1929, Gerna was married to Amos Edward Reida in the Presbyterian Manse in Grinnell. They were the parents of four children, Wesley, Mary Jane, Bruce and Colleen. She helped with the school hot lunch program and from 1972 to 1988, she, Amos and Bruce did custodial work at the Poweshiek County Savings Bank. Mrs. Reida was a member of the Presbyterian Church. Her parents and her husband who died September 15, 1992 preceded her in death. Surviving are two daughters and their husbands, Mary Jane and Dean Roudabush of Columbus, Ohio and Colleen and Lavern Lidtka of Malcom; two sons, Wesley Reida and his wife, Doris, of Brooklyn and Bruce Reida of Brooklyn; nine grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren.
