Lindley officiating. Music was by Mrs. Sid Huyser and Mrs. Vernie Hathaway who sang "Lead Kindly Light" and "In the Garden," accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Frank Chase. Pallbearers were E. A. Bieber, James Roberts, James E. Faw, W. D. McBride, John Plaggemeyer, and George Lamach. Interment was in Mountain View.S. D. Gerrit John Wolternik Schoten was born Jan.25, 1888, at Thule, South Dakota, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Klaas Scholten. In 1896 the family moved to Montan residing first in the Wormser area for six years. In 1902 they moved to the present Schoten ranch on Dry creek. Mr. Schoten moved to Big Timber only a few months ago. He started school in South Dakota and finished his grade school work after the family moved to Dry creek. For many years he and his brother, Guy, were engaged in the sheep business but more recently they had changed to cattle. For 20 years Mr. Scholten and his sister Julia Scholten lived in the rock house on the ranch. For eight years before her death, their mother also made her home with them. For more than 25 years Mr. Scholten had been president of the Dry Creek Canal Co. He was an active member of the EUB church here for more than 26 years serving as trustee, representative to the annual conference of the church, member of the pastor-parish committee, church treasurer and usher, in addition to holding offices in the brotherhood of the church Mr. Scholten also was an ardent supporter of the EUB church camp on the Boulder. Survivors are two brothers, Guy Schotlen of Big Timber and Henry Scholten of Gering, Neb.; two sisters, July Scholten of Big Timber and Mrs. J. G. (Dora) Vilduis of Winterhaven, Fla.
