Description	:	Gertrude Schaf was born June 30, 1893, near Grafton, Neb., to Mr. and Mrs. John O'Brien Sr. She died at the Fillmore County Hospital November 26, 1977, at the age of 84 years. She attended rural school. In 1910 she and her parents moved to Grafton, where she graduated from the Grafton high school. She taught in rural schools and in high schools at Pleasanton, Steinhauer, Nelson and Gretna. She was united in marriage to Andrew Schaf August 10, 1936. Read More	Gertrude Schaf was born June 30, 1893, near Grafton, Neb., to Mr. and Mrs. John O'Brien Sr. She died at the Fillmore County Hospital November 26, 1977, at the age of 84 years. She attended rural school. In 1910 she and her parents moved to Grafton, where she graduated from the Grafton high school. She taught in rural schools and in high schools at Pleasanton, Steinhauer, Nelson and Gretna. She was united in marriage to Andrew Schaf August 10, 1936. After their marriage they lived on the farm near Grafton. They then moved to Ponca, Neb., and made this their home until 1955, when they moved to Albion. In 1970 they moved back to Grafton where they retired. She was preceded in death by 10 brothers and sisters. She is survived by her husband, nephews and nieces and numerous friends. The rosary was recited at St. Helena's Catholic Church of Grafton at 7:30 p.m., Monday, November 28. The funeral mass was celebrated at St. Helena's Church by Father Urban Schmitt of Grafton and Father Leo Shedivy of Hastings. Father Schmitt delivered a beautiful sermon. The St. Helena choir was in charge of the music. Mass servers were Mark and Paul O'Brien and Patrick Jennett. Pallbearers were Michael O'Brien, Richard Yaeger, Robert Hoeft, Robert Fessler, Ralph O'Connor and Marvin Bartlett. Interment was in Holy Cross Cemetery, Grafton.
