Description	:	Mrs. Floyd Philmalee, eldest daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Edward Sauler, passed away at the General Hospital in Los Angeles, Calif., on Sept. 26, 1949 at the age of 40 years and six months. Gertrude Eva Sauler was born in St. Edward on March 1, 1909. She grew to womanhood here and spent most of her life here having attended the St. Edward high school and graduated with the class of ’28. January 13, 1930 she was united in marriage to Floyd Philmalee of Loretto, Nebr. To this union four daughters, three of whom with her husband survive.... Gertrude Eva Sauler was born in St. Edward on March 1, 1909. She grew to womanhood here and spent most of her life here having attended the St. Edward high school and graduated with the class of ’28. January 13, 1930 she was united in marriage to Floyd Philmalee of Loretto, Nebr. To this union four daughters, three of whom with her husband survive. One daughter, Margie Alice, died in infancy. Preceding her in death besides their daughter were her parents; her mother in August of 1929 and her father in 1940. Also a sister, Mary in July of 1942. She is survived by her loving and faithful husband Floyd Philmalee and three daughters, Mary Louise, Grace Ann and Dorothy Lea. Also a sister, Alice, Mrs. Lewis A. Thrower of Los Angeles, Calif., and a host of relatives and friends. The family moved to California in 1940 and have resided there for the past nine years. The last five years they lived in Sepulvede, until the time of her passing. She was ambitious and always willing and ready to help others. No task was too large for her to do. She was a very kind and loving mother and a true friend to all who knew her. She will be sadly missed in her circle of friends. Many came to pay their last respects to this fine young woman. The flowers were many and beautiiful. The body was brought to St. Edward and services were held at the St. Edward Catholic church with Father Brady officiating and was laid to rest in the Rose Hill cemetery in Albion. Pall bearers were Sam Adkins, Walter Briese, Ray Howell, Fritz Johnson, John Williams and Gus Raymond. Those coming from a distance to attend were Floyd Philmalee and three daughters of San Francisco, Calif.; Mrs. and Mrs. L. A. Thrower and son Paul of Los Angeles, Mr. and Mrs. Ora Philmalee and daughter Lo Ann of Valentine, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Swanson and son Alan of Valentine, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Ogden of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. Emmet Schlaff of Cedar Rapids and Corp. Wilfred Kalmar of Fort Lewis, Wash. (Albion News – Albion, Nebraska – October 13, 1949)
