Daughter of George McClellan "Mack" Hall and Malissa Jane Bricker OBITUARY THE CHARITON LEADER Chariton, Iowa Tuesday, August 6, 1985 DEMING Gertrude Francis (Hall) Deming, daughter of Mack and Malissa Hall, was born in Lucas County, one of 11 children, all of her brothers and sisters surviving. She married John Deming in 1934 and had two children, Mrs. Dan (Elinor) Grunz and Richard. They moved to Steele County, Minn. in 1948, where they farmed. In 1953, they moved into Owatonna. She worked for Wenge Music, Jostens Manufacturing, Lipelt Music Store, Woolworths and retired from Truth Inc. in 1979. During this time she was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary for 30 years, a past president of the Owatonna Eagles Club. She was an active member of the Methodist Church. After moving back to Chariton in 1980, she became an Eagle Auxiliary member here and was willing to substitute in any capacity or office. She was a member of the Hospital Auxiliary and Women's Club of America, and the Kay Circle of the Methodist Church. She was a willing volunteer worker. She was an employee of the Ben Franklin Store several years before moving to Owatonna and 32 years later returned to work there again for three to four years. She really liked to work close with her husband, John, taking care of their many flowers in their yard and garden. Her roses were a special favorite. She was always willing to share plants with friends and neighbors. Gertrude helped John with the garden and selected prime produce to sell. She canned much of her produce which she shared with her children, friends and neighbors. She was a great cook who was willing to cook the many things John brought home from going hunting - deer, squirrel, turtle, rabbit, etc. She made friends wherever she went and always had a joyful spirit. She always had sayings or remarks to get her friends to smile and laugh. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Services were held Thursday, Aug. 1, 1985 at the Fielding Funeral Home. The Rev. Lynn Ryon conducted. Interment was in the Bethel Cemetery.
