Van Dyk -Duven Funeral Home were in charge of arrangements. Gertrude Heniette Vos, the daughter of John and Bertha Pothoven Vos, was born on August 4, 1906 at rural New Sharon. She grew up in the Peoria area where she also attended school. On January 2, 1930 she was united in marriage with Stephen Evcrttc Nibbelink near Peoria. Gertrude Heniette Vos, the daughter of John and Bertha Pothoven Vos, was born on August 4, 1906 at rural New Sharon. She grew up in the Peoria area where she also attended school. On January 2, 1930 she was united in marriage with Stephen Evcrttc Nibbelink near Peoria. Gertrude and Steven spent most of their entire married life together farming in the New Sharon area. They spent a total of 56 years together on the farm. In 1986 they moved to Hilltop Manor in Pclla. Steven passed away June 20, 1987. In October of 1988 Gertrude fractured her hip and since has been hospitalized at the Pclla Community Hospital in Pella. She passed away on Friday, February 3, 1989 at the age of 82. Surviving are her three children and their spouses: Bonnie and Gordon Ncgcn of New Jersey; Vcrla and Ronald Janscn of Sully; Gary and Joanne Nibbelink of Waterloo. There are 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Of her orginal family, Gertrude leaves two sisters: Martha, Mrs. Casey Kuipcrs of Phoenix, and Helen Vos of North Carolina and her two brothers: Otto Vos of Pella and Clarence Vos of Michigan. Preceding her in death besides her husband, Steven, were a grandson, her parents and one sister. Gertrude was a faithful member of the Peoria Christian Ref. Church in Peoria where she was baptized and made her confession of faith. She was a former member of the Queen Esther Circle and at the present was a member of the Persis Society there.
