She was born in Orono, ME on December 28, 1908 a daughter of the late Cyprien and Elizabeth (Theriault) Betit. Mrs. Virgin attended school in Mexico, ME. She married and had two children. She had been employed by Hazzard Shoe, the Augusta House, Augusta General Hospital and MaineGeneral Medical Center. She also worked in several day cares. Virgin, age 107, died Monday, January 25, 2016 at MaineGeneral Rehabilitation and Nursing Care Center at Glenridge following a long and eventful life. She was born in Orono, ME on December 28, 1908 a daughter of the late Cyprien and Elizabeth (Theriault) Betit. Mrs. Virgin attended school in Mexico, ME. She married and had two children. She had been employed by Hazzard Shoe, the Augusta House, Augusta General Hospital and MaineGeneral Medical Center. She also worked in several day cares. She loved children and will be missed by many. Mrs. Virgin was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne Society and the Happy Family Senior Citizens. She was pre-deceased by her brother and sisters; her son, William Virgin and a grandson, James Elliott. Mrs. Virgin is survived by her daughter, Irene Elliott of Augusta; her grandchildren: Harold Elliott and his wife Ann, Jeffrey Elliott and his wife Debbie and Elizabeth Elliott and her companion Brian Fortin all of Augusta; and James Elliott’s wife, Cindy Elliott of Eastport, six great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Burial will be in the spring in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Manchester. Those who desire may make donation in Gertrude’s memory to: Alzheimer’s Care Center, 154 Dresden Ave., Gardiner, ME, 04345.
