Description	:	Thanks to contributor #48796369 Gertrude P. Birkby, 85, of Grand Island, formerly of Greeley, died Sunday, Nov. 4, 2001, at Tiffany Square. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Greeley. The Revs. Gerald Carlsen and Walter Phalen will officiate. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visitation with a rosary was Tuesday at the church. T.J. Finn and Sons Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Miss Birkby was born March 14, 1916, in Greeley County to William C. and Catherine (Grady) Birkby. She attended District 64 School through the eighth grade and graduated from Greeley Sacred Heart High School in 1932. She worked for the federal government in AAA and ASCS from 1934 to 1974. She then worked for Greeley Housing Authority from 1974 to 1985 at which time she retired. She continued to live in Greeley until January 1997 when she moved to Tiffany Square Care Center. She was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a charter member of Catholic Daughters Court Our Lady of Good Counsel. Survivors include a brother, Paul of Greeley, and a sister, Catherine Berger of Spalding. The Grand Island Independent, Nov. 7, 2001
