Description	:	Grand Island (Nebraska) Independent Friday, December 26, 1952 Mrs. Mattie Stromer, widow of D. G. Stromer, died early this morning in the family home at 704 West Fourth. Mrs. Stromer had been critically ill the last seven weeks. Funeral services will be conducted Monday afternoon at 1 o'clock in the Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home by the Rev. Harvey Clark, pastor of St. Paul's English Lutheran Church. Burial will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetery near Glenvil. Mrs. Stromer was born Dec. 18, 187?, in Osfriesland, Germany to M..?. and M..? Vissering. When she was a child of six years the family emigrated to Minonk, Ill. It was there that Mrs. Stromer completed her schooling. She and Dick G. Stromer were married Jan. 4, 1894? in Minonk. Soon after their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Stromer came westward to Glenvil and farmed there for 22 years. Then Mr. Stromer entered the grain elevator business and the family resided in Hastings and at Norman. It was in 1920 that Mr. and Mrs. Stromer came to Grand Island, Mr. Stromer to manage the Farmers Union Elevator. He retired in 1937. Mr. and Mrs. Stromer observed their golden wedding anniversary Jan. 4, 1944. Both were in good health at the time and able to enjoy the occasion with their family and friends. Mr. Stromer died in August of 1947. Mrs. Stromer was baptized in the Lutheran faith in her native country. She was confirmed in America and was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Grand Island. Mrs. Stromer devoted much of her time in the interests of the church. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. William Meininger, Mrs. Ray A. Kozal and Mrs. Donald T. Kerr, all of Grand Island; two sons. R. W. Stromer, Grand Island, and Ray H. Stromer, Wichita, Kan.; one grandchild, Sheryl Sue Stromer; two sisters, Mrs. Anna Ufken, Canby, Minn., and Mrs. Hannah Koch, Benson, Ill.; and two brothers, William Vissering, Benson, Ill., and Menno Vissering, Streator, Ill.
