Mrs. Rickels, whose maiden name was Harms, was born at Repsholt, Germany, April 24, 1823. She was married to Henry Rickels in 1846, and came with her husband to America in 1867, and settled at Wayne Center, Jones County, which remained her home until death. Mrs. Rickels, whose maiden name was Harms, was born at Repsholt, Germany, April 24, 1823. She was married to Henry Rickels in 1846, and came with her husband to America in 1867, and settled at Wayne Center, Jones County, which remained her home until death. Mrs. Rickels was the mother of nine children, four of whom died in infancy. Two daughters Mrs. Henry Tobiason and Mrs. Henry Paegler, died a few years after marriage. The deceased is survived by her husband Henry Rickels, and by three sons, Gerd Rickels and Herman Rickels of Wayne township, and Henry Rickels of Orange, California. During the past few years Mr. and Mrs. Rickels had made their home with their son Gerd. They celebrated their golden wedding in 1806. The funeral services were conducted yesterday afternoon at the German Lutheran church by Rev C. Mardorf. The services were delayed hoping that the son, Henry might arrive from California. Word was received from him that his train was much delayed and he was unable to arrive in time for the funeral.
