Mardorf of Wayne, was married to Herman Rickels, son of the late Henry Rickels, of the same township, Wednesday morning. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 21 for Herman Rickels, 316 West First St., Monticello who died suddenly at his home Saturday noon, Feb. 18.He had been an invalid for several years. Rev. Arnold E. Schlueter conducted the services at St. Matthew Lutheran church, Monticello, with burial at Wayne Zion cemetery. Born July 7, 1869 in Wayne Township, he was a son of Henry and Marie Harms Rickels. He was first married to Lena Folkers, Mar. 12, 1890. She preceded him in death on Jan 31, 1906. Later he married Sadie Mardorf, Mar. 26, 1913. They made their home on a farm in Wayne Township, later moving to his present home. He was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran church, Monticello. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Sadie Rickels, Monticello and his children by his first marriage George E.Rickels, Monticello; John Rickels, Delmar; Marie, Mrs. Carl Freese, Anamosa and Martha, Mrs. Carl Webber, Central City. One son Henry Rickels preceded his father in death Nov 8, 1956. Also surviving are 18 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters. Pallbearers included Louis Rickels, Rex Rickels, Henry Rickels, Herman Rickels, Raymond Freese and Robert Doden.
