Description	:	"Mrs. Giddy Schuyler died Monday evening, October 12, at her son's residence, aged eighty-one years. Her funeral took place Wednesday, the 14th, at the Christian Church. The services were conducted by Rev. T. Doughman. She had been a faithful and consistent member of the church for forty-five years. Her remains were interred in the Goshen Cemetery." Source: The Lebanon Gazette 31 Oct 1885 (Copy from the Obituary Collection at the Warren County Genealogical Society) Widowed at a young age, Getty Elston married 1st to Jacob Schuyler on 15 Apr 1825 (marriage return on 12 May 1825) in Hunterdon, New Jersey, and bore him 4 children: John, Mary Jane, William and Sarah. Sometime between the births of John in 1826 and Mary Jane in 1830, the young family moved from New Jersey to (then) Hamilton County, Ohio, now Warren and Clermont Counties. Jacob Schuyler died in 1842 at the age of 40, a few months prior to Sarah's birth . The 1850 Census lists newlyweds Getty and (2nd husband) John Crosson (1788-1859), who were married on 19 Aug 1850, living together with 7 yr old Sarah. The newlyweds had no issue, and must have divorced prior to 1860, as they are found living (separately) with family members by the 1860 Census. John's burial site is unknown, but it is believed he is buried in nearby Crosson Cemetery, a family site where his brother William (1796-1879) and several other family members can be found. The 1860 & 1870 Census lists Getty living in Warren County with the family of her daughter and son in law, Mary Jane and Peter Wolf. By 1880, 76 yr old Getty can be found in adjacent Goshen, Clermont County with the family of her eldest son John and his second wife, Margaret (Studley) Schuyler. James Stode Elston, author of "The Elston Family in America," pg. 150, lists Getty's probable father as Thomas Elston, however no proof of this has been found. James Lewis Elsten (1808-1894), son of Caleb Elsten, is enumerated living immediately next door to Getty in Hamilton, Warren, Ohio in the 1840 US Census.
