Description	:	CSA Son of Willis Gibson and Sarah Bethea Crawford, husband of Catherine Rachel Bethea. LATTA - G. Gibson Crawford died here yesterday morning at the residence of W. Ellis Bethea, where he made his home for some time. He was born in the Free State section of the county June 13, 1843, and had nearly lived out his three score and ten years. Mr. Crawford was a well known character and had lived in this section all his life. Read More	CSA Son of Willis Gibson and Sarah Bethea Crawford, husband of Catherine Rachel Bethea. LATTA - G. Gibson Crawford died here yesterday morning at the residence of W. Ellis Bethea, where he made his home for some time. He was born in the Free State section of the county June 13, 1843, and had nearly lived out his three score and ten years. Mr. Crawford was a well known character and had lived in this section all his life. He volunteered quite young and entered the Confederate army and his was a varied service, having seen service in Tennessee and other sections with the western branch of the army, and immediately after the Battle of Chicamauga joined the Confederate Navy, serving on a boat by the same name as the famous battle. He belonged to the Twenty-third South Carolina regiment, after this was transferred to Company B, Twenty-fourth South Carolina regiment. He was very much interested in the Confederacy and almost always attended the annual reunions of the Confederate veterans. Soon after the war he married a daughter of Col. James Bethea who died some years ago. He leaves a daughter, Mrs. W. E. Bethea of Latta, and two sons, James G. Crawford of Latta and Sam B. Crawford of Mullins, to mourn his death. He will be buried today in Mt. Holly Cemetery, attended by Camp E. T. Stackhouse, Confederate veterans, of which camp he was a member, and a number of relatives and friends.
