A memorial has been established to Fairfield Public Library. Stone was born Dec. 18, 1923, in Jefferson County, the son of Frank A. and Gladys Hostetler Stone. A lifelong resident of Jefferson County, he graduated from Fairfield High School. He had been married and divorced. He was employed at Copeland's Mobil Service, Bob's Skelley Service, and FALCO. He also farmed and was a member of First Lutheran Church. Surviving are two sons, Alvin and James, both of Fairfield; two daughters, Connie Hayes of Elsberry, Mo., Lucinda Stone of West Point, Miss., four grandchildren, and a sister, Louise Faris of Davenport. His parents preceded him in death.
