Thomas Au officiating. Lector was Catherine Henry. Elizabeth Schott was song leader and Lorraine Rempe organist and Walt Buescher was acolyte. Burial was in Sacred Heart cemetery (sic) with the American Legion Post No. 45 providing the military rites. Pall bearers were Barry Wombacher, Geoffrey Anderson, Robert Gilsdorf and Steven Anderson, all nephews of the deceased. Gilbert was born to Joseph and Elizabeth (Wenzinger) Gilsdorf on July 28, 1912 near Guide Rock, NE and died February 19, 1994 at the Mary Lanning Hospital in Hastings, Ne. He attended St. Stephen's school and entered the army in 1942 and was discharged in 1945. He served in the European theater. He spent most of his life in the Lawrence area, living on a farm southwest of Lawrence until 1980 when he moved to Lawrence. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Knights of Columbus and the American Legion. Gilbert was a devoted Catholic and a kind, generous person to his family and friends. He was a very special brother and a very special uncle to his many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, brothers, Marcellus Gilsdorf in 1951 and Denis Gilsdorf in 1989, sisters, Viola Wombacher and Evarista Gilsdorf both in 1989. Survivors are one brother, Mark of Phoenix, AZ; two sisters: Mrs. Frances (Marcia) Miley of Spokane, WA and Mrs. Bernel (Althea) Anderson of Hastings, NE and many nieces and nephews. Relatives coming from a distance were Marcia and Francis Miley of Spokane, WA, Sharon (Miley) Meadows of Bellevue, WA; Mrs. Don Erickson & family of Highlands Ranch CO; Tim Schott of Beloit, KS, Annette Eiseman of Hardy, NE, Loretta Gilsdorf, Sue Anderson and Wayne Gilsdorf all of Omaha; Mr. and Mrs. Bob Gilsdorf & family of Pueblo, CO, Ray Womacher Sr, Barbara Thingstad, Shelby, NE, Marla & Matthew Prosaski of Osceola, NE; Mr. and Mrs. Steve Womacher & family of Schuyler, NE, Kelly Henry & Kris Turner of Fremont, NE; Mr. & Mrs. Erve Mazour, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Soto of Wood River; Mr. & Mrs. Jack Gilsdorf, Pat, Amelia & Tom Anderson of Lincoln; Bob Miley of San Antonio, Tex.; Lucille Brockman, Ron & Betty Schott, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Britten all of Superior.
