Viola was born to Joseph and Elizabeth (Wenzinger) Gilsdorf on November 18, 1915 near Guide Rock, NE. She attended St. Stephen School and graduated from Lawrence High School. She married Raymond J. Wombacher on December 29, 1938. They lived at Lawrence, NE. until 1950 when they moved to Shelby. To this union sixteen children were born. In her busy life she found the time to be a Cub Scout Den mother, Rest Home volunteer, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the Shelby Senior Citizens, held an Altar Society office and also was a C.C.D. teacher. Viola was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church. She possessed a friendly, cheerful disposition and was a friend to everyone. To her family she leaves the heritage and example of a truly Christian wife and mother. Preceding her in death were Sons: Kenneth in 1973, Leon in 1972, infant twin sons Robert and Joseph, grandchildren Todd and Sue Ann Wombacher, her parents and a brother Marcellus.
