Description	:	Gilbert L. Eades was born at home on his family's farm in Beaver County, Oklahoma on 23 November 1914. He grew up in this farming community and attended the first seven years of school there. The family moved to Scobey, Montana for one year in 1927 where he graduated eighth grade. They returned to Oklahoma and he worked on various farms and for the dairy until moving to Paradox, Colorado in 1935. Eades was born at home on his family's farm in Beaver County, Oklahoma on 23 November 1914. He grew up in this farming community and attended the first seven years of school there. The family moved to Scobey, Montana for one year in 1927 where he graduated eighth grade. They returned to Oklahoma and he worked on various farms and for the dairy until moving to Paradox, Colorado in 1935. He worked on various farms in the area and in 1939 began work for the United States Vanadium Corporation near Bedrock, Colorado in what was referred to as the "Salt Works". He worked there until January of 1942. January of 1942 was a significant period in Gilbert's life as he was married on the 14th of January to Dot Willden, a life-long resident of Paradox, with whom he shared 68 years of marriage. In addition, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and reported for duty on the 23rd of January. He served in the U.S. Submarine Force for the duration of WWII being discharged on the 20th of September of 1945. He then returned to Paradox where he worked on local farms and for the saw mill. In 1948 he went to work on the Eades/Ayers Ranch in Bedrock, Colorado. He worked there for seven years. In 1955 the family moved to Paradox and he began a 25 year career with the school district. While working for the school he and his wife also owned and operated the Bedrock store from 1968 to 1978. He retired from the school in 1980 and spent the remainder of his life pursuing his hobbies and interests. Gilbert was an accomplished craftsman and carpenter, having built two houses in the Paradox Valley and completing remodeling on many more. He was interested in genealogy and history and compiled much history and data on the "Eades" family in America. He also enjoyed growing trees and shrubbery around his residence. Gilbert was a plank owner in the VFW Post in Nucla, Colorado and was also a life member of the Submarine Veterans of WWII. Gilbert was preceded in death by his wife, Dot, his parents, three brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his daughter, Karen (Eades) Jones (Michael) of Salt Lake City, Utah. A son, Lee Wayne "Buddy" (Kathy) of Kirtland, New Mexico; A son, Doug (Laurilee) of Delta, Colorado, and a son Alan "Dirk" (Michelle) of Montrose, Colorado; A brother, Wayne in Naturita, Colorado and two sisters, Stella and Lois of Oklahoma. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
