Description	:	Gilbert Victor Miller, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry A. Miller, was born October 18, 1918, at Gothenburg, Nebraska. He was baptized into the Lutheran faith on November 3, 1918. As a young boy he confessed that faith through confirmation in 1834, at Stockville. In 1921, he moved to Freedom with his parents and in 1938 back to Gothenburg, in Custer County. On the morning of his tragic death, he went with his father to Omaha, where he visited a doctor. Gilbert had not been in good health for several months. On the return trip their car crashed with a motor... Read More	Gilbert Victor Miller, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry A. Miller, was born October 18, 1918, at Gothenburg, Nebraska. He was baptized into the Lutheran faith on November 3, 1918. As a young boy he confessed that faith through confirmation in 1834, at Stockville. In 1921, he moved to Freedom with his parents and in 1938 back to Gothenburg, in Custer County. On the morning of his tragic death, he went with his father to Omaha, where he visited a doctor. Gilbert had not been in good health for several months. On the return trip their car crashed with a motor train, he and his father being instantly killed. The date of his death was July 14, 1939. Gilbert was a very active boy in the Luther League, of which he was a member. He was well liked by all and had many true friends. He will be truly missed in the church and in the community. He leaves to mourn: his dear mother, three sisters, Johanna, Henrietta and Gertrude and two brothers, Arthur and Edward. His father passed on with him. He reached the age of 20 years, 8 months and 26 days. A poem that Gilbert kept among his treasures was: Thine forever! God of love, Hear us from Thy throne above! Thine forever may we be, Here and in eternity! Thine forever! Oh, how blest! They who find in Thee their rest! Savior, Guardian, Heavenly Friend, Oh, defend us to the end! Thine forever! Savior keep These Thy frail and trembling sheep Safe alone beneath Thy care, Let us all Thy goodness share! Thine forever! Thou, our Guide, All our wants by Thee supplied, All our sins by Thee forgiven-- Lead us Lord, from earth to heaven! Services will be held at the Zion Lutheran Church at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, with Reverend A. J. Duis in charge. Pallbearers were: Bruno A. J. Cyriacks, Marvin Lambertus, Edwin Sommer, Vernon Bauman, Melvin Lauer, Richard Franzen.
