Description	:	Giles Henry Smith, eldest son of Josiah and Hannah Smith, was born in Meigs County, Ohio, February 2, 1855 and died October 14, 1928, aged 73 years, 8 months and 12 days. He was married to Miss Fannie Hull, January 1, 1876. To this union, three children were born. He was an early pioneer, in the western part of Nebraska and went through trying experiences of settlement days, In 1886, he filed on a homestead, twelve miles west of Imperial, in Chase County, Nebraska, where he made a home for his family, for 33 years. He sold his farm in Chase County... Read More	Giles Henry Smith, eldest son of Josiah and Hannah Smith, was born in Meigs County, Ohio, February 2, 1855 and died October 14, 1928, aged 73 years, 8 months and 12 days. He was married to Miss Fannie Hull, January 1, 1876. To this union, three children were born. He was an early pioneer, in the western part of Nebraska and went through trying experiences of settlement days, In 1886, he filed on a homestead, twelve miles west of Imperial, in Chase County, Nebraska, where he made a home for his family, for 33 years. He sold his farm in Chase County and moved to a farm near Blue Mound, Kansas, March, 1919, where he lived until the time of his death. He was converted and joined the U B Church, when he was a boy, and after moving to Blue Mound, he united with the Federated Church of which he was a member, when he passed away. He leaves his loving wife and three daughters, Miss Zillah, of Blue Mound, Mrs. Alta Po(remainder of name illegible), of Holyoke, Colorado and Mrs. Belle McGaughey, of St. Edward, Nebraska. He also leaves an aged mother, who has made her home with him for a number of years and two brothers, Freeman, of Gillette Wyoming and Nelson of Champion, Nebraska, besides seven grandchildren, one great grandchild, seven nieces and ten nephews. His death came very suddenly and was a great shock to the community. While he had been in ailing health for a number of months, his condition was not considered serious. Cerebral Hemorrhage caused instant death. He was found prostate in the barn, where he had been attending evening chores. He was a devoted husband and father, a good friend and neighbor and leaves a host of friends, who will greatly miss him. He was a cousin of Commissioner William Smith and his father was a brave and valiant soldier in (missing words) 63rd Ohio. His mother (remainder of article missing. 2 B. Death of Giles Smith Word has been received of the death of Giles Smith, of Blue Mound, Kansas, a former resident of Olive and Chester Townships. He was a cousin of Asbury Smith and Commissioner William Smith. He left Chester, forty two years ago and located in Nebraska, until a few years ago, when he moved to Blue Mound. He will be remembered by the older residents of these townships as one of the substantial citizens of his time. --------------------- Hannah Hill Smith moved to Blue Mound, Linn, Kansas in 1919 with her son Giles, they are buried here in the cemetery, also his wife and at least one dau.
