Description	:	Ginger parent are William D. and Gertrude(Brown)Edie. Ginger married Harvey Steffen May 19, 1947 in Pasco. Her husband died Sept. 26, 1980. Ginger began her newspaper career in 1962 working for Virgil Hillyer at the Sunnyside Sun. In the mid to late 60s she worked for other newspapers in the state and began her long employment as an editor with the Daily News in 1970. Her husband died Sept. 26, 1980. Ginger began her newspaper career in 1962 working for Virgil Hillyer at the Sunnyside Sun. In the mid to late 60s she worked for other newspapers in the state and began her long employment as an editor with the Daily News in 1970. She has beeen active in local politics as well as community events. She served one term as a city councilwoman and on the Sunnyside Board of Adjustment. Ginger served on an advisory committee for former Governor Dan Evans and was active on Yakima Valley Community College needs assessment committee for core curriculum programs in the Lower Valley. She has been active in the Eagles Ladies Auxiliary, and was a charter member and past officer of the Lower Valley chapter of Soroptimist International. Ginger also served on the board of the Family Violence Resource Center and was a Memorial Fund Chairman for the American Cancer Society. In 1987 the Sunshine Days committee named Ginger as the Grand Marshal of the Sunshine Days parade. This was an honor she very much appreciated. Ginger retired from the Daily Sun News in 1990 and began her four-year employmet in public relations of Kaiser Engineers at Hanford. Ginger loved newspapering and especially in Sunnyside. her "Add Ginger and Stir" column was always lively and well thought out. She was a constant community advocate and was always quick to offer her assistance and advice to improve Sunnyside. In January of 1995 she married Fred Buchmiller in Sunnyside. Ginger had a son David and a daughter Deborah. One brother Willaim Edie Jr. and three sisters Wanda Bradshaw, Barbara Meriwether, and Faye Meyers.
