On May 1, 1888, she was united in marriage with Dave Yoakam. There were no children born to them, but Mrs. Yoakam's niece, Mrs. Lottie Washburn, beautifully helped to fill that vacant place. Read More	Osceola Sentinel, Osceola, Iowa January 1, 1925, Page 2 Gertha May Douglas, daughter of Thomas A. and Margaret Jane Douglas, was born in Jasper county, Ia., February 9, 1887, and died at her home about four miles east of Medora, Iowa, December 20, 1924, at the age of 47 years, 10 months and 11 days. On May 1, 1888, she was united in marriage with Dave Yoakam. There were no children born to them, but Mrs. Yoakam's niece, Mrs. Lottie Washburn, beautifully helped to fill that vacant place. Besides the husband and niece, above mentioned, Mr. Yoakam leaves three sisters to mourn their loss. These are: Mrs. Electa Smith of Warren county, Mrs. Ada Whistler of Fleming, Colo., and Mrs. Hattie Davis of Clarke county, Iowa. There are several other relatives and a large circle of neighbors and friends. At the very early age of 16 years, she was converted and united with the United Brethren church at Norwood, Iowa. She was always sincere in her belief and led a pure Christian life. Mrs, Yoakam was of a most unassuming-manner and cheerful disposition, endearing herself greatly to all who know her. To the many loved ones her name will be a cherished memory. The funeral services were conducted from the Bethel Chapel church in the northeast corner of Clarke county, Tuesday, December 23, at 11:00 a.m. by Rev. LeRoy Munyon, minister of the Osceola Christian church, after which interment was made in the Bethel cemetery. Transcribed as published by Karen Brewer
