Description	:	Gladys B. Brown, a longtime resident of Galt, passed from this life to her heavenly home at the age of 98 on Jan. 12, 2018 in a Lodi hospital. She was born on Dec. 19, 1919 in the Cedar Township of Fonda in Pocahontas County, Idaho to Edward and Jesse Dayton. Brown, a longtime resident of Galt, passed from this life to her heavenly home at the age of 98 on Jan. 12, 2018 in a Lodi hospital. She was born on Dec. 19, 1919 in the Cedar Township of Fonda in Pocahontas County, Idaho to Edward and Jesse Dayton. After finishing her school years in Spirit Lake, Iowa, she met and married her husband Chet Brown. Following Chet’s military service, the couple moved to Galt where they first lived on Franston Street until they bought their forever home on Oak Avenue. While Chet worked as a mechanic at Winter Motors in Sacramento, Gladys obtained work at the original Galt swimming pool supervising the children. Chet and Gladys were married for more than 40 years, and after his death, she worked as cashier at Spaans Cookies for many, many years. Gladys was very active in the community, being especially supportive of the police department, along with the Galt Area Historical Society. She was a longtime active member of Galt Bible Church and volunteered much time helping with many special activities and entertaining visiting missionaries and guest speakers in her home. Over the years, she enjoyed bowling with friends and caring for her home and flower garden. Gladys has spent her last few years living in the Vienna convalescent home in Lodi where she actively enjoyed Wi bowling and playing Bingo with her many friends there. Gladys outlived most of her family and is survived by a niece and nephew. She considered herself a part of the Garner Archer family, who also considered her part of their family. A committal service was held Wednesday, Jan. 31 beside her husband’s grave at the Galt cemetery. A memorial service for Gladys will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, Feb. 10 at Galt Bible Church, located at 801 Church Street. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made in her name to Galt Bible Church. The Galt Herald Feb 7 2018
