She was born May 18, 1926, in Wilcox, Nebraska to Ernest and Louise (Kahle) Schubert. On March 3, 1946, Gladys Schubert and Ervin DeJonge were united in marriage at St. John's Lutheran Church in Wilcox, Nebraska. She was baptized June 13, 1926, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Wilcox by the Rev. L.C. Hermanding and confirmed on April 2, 1939, by the Rev. Naffke. She grew up in the Wilcox area and graduated from Wilcox High School in 1943. Gladys and Ervin lived and farmed in the Hildreth-Macon area. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Macon, taught Bible school and Sunday school and was a member of the Women of the Church. She enjoyed quilting for Lutheran World Relief. She loved being around her children, grandchildren and friends. She and Ervin enjoyed 26 years of square dancing and dancing. She liked going on tours, trips, gardening and working outside. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Arline; and brother, Lloyd. Survivors include her husband; sons, Allan DeJonge and his wife, Dianna, of Franklin, Nebraska and Dennis DeJonge and his wife, JoAnn, of Kearney, Nebraska; daughter, Judy Hansen and her husband, Mike, of Hastings, Nebraska.
