Gladys was born February 27, 1899, in New Carlisle and was a lifetime area resident. On June 16, 1916 , in South Bend, Gladys married William C. Tolmen, who died Oct. 25, 1975. Gladys retired from United Telephone as a telephone operator for after 30 years of service. Gladys was born February 27, 1899, in New Carlisle and was a lifetime area resident. On June 16, 1916 , in South Bend, Gladys married William C. Tolmen, who died Oct. 25, 1975. Gladys retired from United Telephone as a telephone operator for after 30 years of service. Surviving are five daughters, Mary Mell of Jackson, Mich., Ellen Sinks of West Des Moines, Iowa, and Jeanette Koehler, Louise Mackey And Marie Swarts, all of South Bend; five sons, Richard of Kerrville, Texas, Terry of Kokomo, Ind., Donald of kankakee Ill., Russell and Hary, both of New Carlisle; 27 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren. Three daughters, Helen Blackston, Rosetta Loomis and Modelle Karoly, and a son, William Tolmen, preceded her in death. She was a member of New Carlisle Community Church, Woman's Council of Churches, Mothers of World War II 125, Tops Club, Inc. 813, and Order of The Eastern Star Chapter 320. Friends may call from 3 to 10 p.m. Friday in Haverstock Funeral Home, La Porte, and 9:30 a.m. until the hour of service, Saturday in the church. Members of the Eastern Star will conduct services at 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Services for Gladys will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, in New Carlisle Community Church.
