Read More	Article fron the Quad City Herald - May 13, 1965 GLADYS AMSBAUGH KILLED IN OREGON CAR ACCIDENT Friends, relatives and neighbors in the surrounding communities, and many people in far away places were shocked and grieved Thursday when they received word of a tragic death of Gladys Amsbaugh. Ms. Amsbaugh was chaperoning three of our top musical students on a trip to Forest Grove, Oregon to attend a music festival. The three students, Margaret Amsbaugh, Mary Harmon and Roy Dowell, were severely injured, and Gladys lost her life in a head on collision reportedly caused by the other driver's trying to pass a truck on a two lane highway at Rufus, Oregon. Mrs. Amsbaugh was born in Kettle Falls, Washington and completed her education there. In July 1940, she was married to Keith Amsbaugh at Sand Point, Idaho. The Amsbaughs lived the next few years in Sand Point and Ione. During Keith's service overseas, Gladys worked in Portland for the Blue Cross and was Red Cross volunteer. Later she went to Ft. Lewis where she worked for the Military Welfare Service of the American Red Cross. The Amsbaughs resided at Coulee Dam for six years, and Gladys worked at the hospital there. The past ten years the Amsbaughs have lived in Bridgeport where she was very active in all civic work. Mrs. Amsbaugh was a member of the WSCS of the Community Methodist Church, Puritan Chapter OES, American Legion Auxiliary, Bar Belles, Rainbow Mothers Club, Den Mother for Cub Scouts and the past year she had seved as chapter chairman of the American National Red Cross, Douglas County Chapter. She had over 20 yers volunteer service in Red Cross. The Amsbaughs have two children, Margaret, born Feb. 4, 1947 and John born April 24, 1956. Three children preceded her in death. Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 11th, at the Community Methodist Church. Anyone wishing to make a memorial to Mrs. Ashbaugh may do so by sending it to the building fund of the Community Methodist Church.
