LOUIS KAPSON DIES IN DENVER; RITES HELD HERE Mrs. Louis Kapson of Fresno, California, the first white child born in Phillips County and a resident of this community moSt of her life, passed away at 1:00 o'clock Sunday afternoon at Sands House in Denver following a long illness. Services were held at 2:00 o'clock yesterday afternoon at the Holyoke Baptist church, with Rev. Alvah C. Lynch, pastor of that church, officiating. Interment was in Holyoke Memorial Park. Mrs. Kapson was a member of the Baptist church her for many years but transferred her membership to a church in Fresno after moving there eight years ago. As Glendora Fair, a daughter of E.L. and Alice* Fair, Mrs. Kapson was born May 24, 1886 on the former Brase place which is now the John Ewegen farm one mile southwest of Amherst. She was reared there and upon reaching maturity she homesteaded just north of the home place. Mrs. Kapson taught in the schools of Phillips County for 35 years, including nine years in the Holyoke grade school. She also taught in Yuma County three years. On November 10, 1910, she was united in marriage with Louis Kapson, a native of Corinth, Greece. They had one stillborn child. Mr. and Mrs. Kapson lived on the homestead for some time, then they moved to Holyoke and operated the Candy Kitchen, the present Sweet Shop, for a number of years, later selling it to the late L.P. Sorensen. Mr. and Mrs. Kapson moved to Fresno, California in 1946 and Mrs. Kapson was engaged in religious teaching there for a time. About one and one-half years ago they came to Denver because of Mrs. Kapson's failing health. Her death was attributed to cancer. Among those who survive Mrs. Kapson are her husband; her mother, Mrs. Alice Fair, Denver; two sisters, Mrs. Maude Douglas and Mrs. Grace Burchett, both of Denver; two brothers, Victor and Lowren Fair; and a number of nieces and nephews. *Sloan
