Mr. Beaubien was born Feb. 25, 1918 in Sioux City, the son of Oscar J. and Ethel M (Beavers) Beaubien. He lived his early years in Jefferson, S.D. and came to Sioux City with his family at age 7. He graduated from Trinity High School in Sioux City and attended Trinity College. He married Lorraine West Nov. 28, 1940 in Sioux City. He was a sales manager for Sportsman’s Inc, sporting goods store, for a number of years and also was employed for a short time by Gery M. Martin Real Estate Co. He retired in 1983. Mr. Beaubien was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, where he was a former usher. He was a member of the Downtown Rotary Club and the Sioux City Jay Cees. He was a past president of the Sergeant Floyd Council of Boy Scouts of American and recipient of the Silver Beaver Award. An avid sportsman, he received awards for tennis and football and was a starter at Siouxland track meets for many years. He was a member of the Izaak Walton League. He served in the U. S. Army Air Corps during World War II. Survivors include his wife; two sons and their wife’s, Thomas G. and Ruth of St. Peters, Mo., and Steven E. and Janann of Tea, S.D.; two grandsons, Todd and Glenn Beaubien; a granddaughter, Jenee Beaubien; two great-granddaughters; and a brother and his wife, Richard J. and Anne Beaubien of Monarch Beach, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Bev. Phelps, two brothers and 2 sisters. Pallbearers will be Barry Knudsen, Dan Stephan, Dave Blaeser and Larry Jurgensen.
