He was born on November 26, 1931 near Adams to Henry and Ada (Bax) Hestermann and had lived in the Adams area most of his life. Glenn was a 1949 graduate of Adams High School. He was born on November 26, 1931 near Adams to Henry and Ada (Bax) Hestermann and had lived in the Adams area most of his life. Glenn was a 1949 graduate of Adams High School. He served his country in the United States Army from June 12, 1952 until June 9, 1954. Glenn and Shirley Rapp were married on May 21, 1953 at the Methodist Church in Adams. He had been a mechanic for Fritz Implement, Adams Equipment and Implement, Hestermann Repair, and had worked in maintenance at the Gold Crest Retirement Center. Glenn was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Sterling, had taught Sunday school, was an elder, and was involved in the Lutheran Layman's League; member of the American Legion Post 0221 in Adams; member of the former Lions Club in Adams; member and former chief of the Adams Volunteer Fire Dept.; former member of the Adams School Board; and had received the Adams Community Service award. He enjoyed wood working, fishing, camping, had played softball, and attended family sporting events. Survivors include his wife Shirley; 2 daughters Judy DeBuhr and husband Rod of York, and Pam Griego of Olathe, KS.; 3 sons Michael Hestermann and wife Gloria of Sterling, Scott Hestermann and wife Julie of Lincoln, and Tim Hestermann and wife Sally of Gilbert, Arizona; 10 grandchildren Jennifer Kennard and husband Eric, Nicole Blaser and husband Nicholas, Shane Griego, Heather Steddum and husband James, Dolly Griego, Reba Hestermann, Lauren Hestermann, Tara Hestermann, Luke Hestermann, and Marah Hestermann; 6 great grandchildren Austin and Kaden Kennard, Sam and Maddie Blaser, and David and Noah Cuevas; 2 brothers Edward Hestermann and wife Jean of Martell, and Jim Hestermann and wife Dianna of Adams; sister Joyce Gilliam of Tecumseh; and sister in law Joan Hestermann of Eagle, NE. Glenn was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Ada (Bax) Hestermann; and brother Wayne Hestermann. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, December 14, 2012 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sterling with Pastor Jason Wolter officiating. Interment will be in the Highland Cemetery, Adams. Military graveside services will be provided by the American Legion Post 221 in Adams. The body will lie in state from 10-9:00 Thursday at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Adams with the family greeting friends from 6-8:00, and at the church one hour preceding the services. A family prayer service will be held at 9:30 A.M Friday at the church. A memorial has been established to the family's choice with funeral home in charge.
