Main The following article is taken from the Forsyth Times-Journal, a newspaper printed in Forsyth, Montana, telling of the death of Ivan Glen Main of Hathaway, Montana. Mr. Main had many relatives and friends in Moravia and Appanoose County "The Hathaway Community this week is mourning the death of Ivan Glen Main, one of our most respected citizens. Mr. Main passed away quite suddenly Tuesday evening, July 2, following an operation for appendicitis on Monday at the Miles City hospital. His condition had not been considered serious until just before the operation and death came as a severe shock to his family and friends. "Funeral services were held in Forsyth Saturday morning by the Rev. C.A. Marshall of the Presbyterian church and interment made in the Forsyth cemetery. A trio of Hathaway friends, Mesdames East, Martin and Lott sang the hymns - "Since Jesus Came into My Heart," "Sweet Peace," "The Gift of God's Love," and "Asleep In Jesus." Pall bearers were A. Badham, W.H. Miller, H.E. Marin, George Nace, G. Vick and Roy Hill all of Hathaway. "Mr. and Mrs. Brown of Centerville, Iowa, parents of Mrs. Main attended the last rites as well as Mr. Main's parents, Mr. and Mrs. R.F. Main and his sister, Mrs. Van Biesen and family of Hysham. Many neighbors form Hathaway and Hysham paid final tribute to their departed friend. "Ivan Glen Main was born April23, 1894, in Appanoose county, Iowa. He was the only son and eldest child of Reuben F. and Florence I. Main, both of whom now live in Hysham. "On July 12, 1914, Mr. Main was united in marriage to Miss Birdie Brown of Centerville, Iowa, who came with her husband to Hysham in 1920. A few years later they moved to Forsyth where they lived for eighteen months while Mr. Main was employed at the Northern Pacific roundhouse. In 1925 they came to Hathaway and settled on the Main ranch where they resided until the present time and where two of their children were born. During his residence in Hathaway he was known as a good friend and neighbor and a trustworthy member of the community. "He is survived by his wife and children, Irene, Opal, Gaylord, Eugene, Dwight, and Herbert Ivan, and by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. R.F. Main of Hysham and three sisters, Mrs. Hazel Boyer and Mrs. Ethel Houser of Centerville, Iowa, and Mrs. Esther (Van) Biesen of Hysham.
