Read More	GLENN JEROME BLAIR March 8, 1958 ~ August 27, 2011 Glenn Jerome Blair left us on Saturday, August 27, 2011 after a 24 year journey with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease). He was 53 years old. Glenn was born March 8, 1958 in Spokane, Washington. While his parents were pursuing their graduate degrees, he also lived in Virginia as a young child. At the age of six, the family settled in Camas, Washington, where both his parents were educators. Cub scouts, Community of Christ church camps on the Lewis River, football, playing trumpet in Stage Band, wrestling (& practicing his moves on his little sister), being a counselor at Outdoor School, driving fast sports cars, dating young ladies in Washougal/Vancouver, and crew sailing on the Willamette River were some of his favorite pursuits growing up. He graduated from Camas High School in 1976. The next 5 years were spent pursuing his dream of becoming an architect at Washington State University in Pullman, Washington. He pledged Sigma Nu, and moved into a dormitory with 40 other fraternity brothers. His education culminated with a six month study course at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark with fellow architecture students and he stayed with a wonderful Danish family. Glenn graduated in 1981 with a Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, and is forever a Coug! After college, Glenn moved to Anchorage, Alaska. He began drafting work at a major firm in Anchorage, moved to Fairbanks, Alaska, then returned with a position of Architectural Designer with CCC Architects. His commercial projects included hospital upgrades, strip malls and small office buildings, university expansions and an elementary school, for which he won an AIA Award. While there, Glenn led a very active life - downhill - cross-country skiing, yacht crew-sailing off the coast of Seward, ice-climbing - tenting on sheer cliffs, and hiking - camping - fishing wherever his Jeep would take him! He also met his future wife Corrinne there, and together they started a furry, 4-legged family, moved into a log cabin high in the mountains overlooking Turnagain Arm, and shared "Orphan Holidays" with their many friends. However, a dip in the economy caused them to leave in summer of 1986. Once back, Glenn pursued work in Portland, and landed a job with BOOR/A. During that time, family and friends began to notice Glenn was having balance and speech difficulties. After consulting a neurologist and undergoing a battery of tests, Glenn was diagnosed with ALS in July 1987. He was given a 2-5 year life expectancy. The resultant weakness and fatigue caused him to officially quit work in October 1987. At this point, Glenn's magnificent support system stepped in - family, friends, church members, and CHS Alumni staged fundraisers, helped purchase equipment, and generally kept his spirits up. But the arrival of his daughter, Rebecca Rose, in September 1988, gave Glenn new purpose, and he bravely and optimistically decided to go onto a ventilator in January 1991. That also heralded the start of 16-hour/day nursing care. But that didn't slow Glenn down - there were road trips in the old Dodge Van, electric wheelchairing in downtown Portland, even designing homes for family members on his computer with the aid of laser head gear! As his condition progressed, and he could no longer move or speak, he became the focal point for holiday and family gatherings, and continued to enjoy movies, books, music and the internet. Glenn's unbelievable longevity, his ability to take each day as it comes, whether in joy or sorrow, his generous spirit, strong heart and utter faith, in himself and in those he loved, will continue to be an inspiration to everyone who knew him. Glenn is survived by his wife, Corrinne Loshaw-Blair; father, Paul Blair; and mother-in-law, Linda Doyle, all of Camas, Washington; his brother-in-law, Steven Cronbaugh; niece, Hannah Cronbaugh; and nephew, Elijah Cronbaugh, all of Battle Ground, Washington; and his brother-in-law, Jeff Loshaw, of Hillsboro, Oregon. He was preceded in death by his precious daughter, Rebecca Rose; his beloved mother, Beverly Blair; and his beautiful sister, Sandra Cronbaugh. Burial was a private family graveside service at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Vancouver. A "Celebration of Life" gathering was scheduled for Sunday, September 18, 2011, at the Camas High School Auditorium, 26900 SE 15th, Camas, WA. All were welcome.
