Description	:	Glenn L. Hopwood, 88, of Palmer, passed away peacefully Monday, January 31, 2022, at his home. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, February 4, 2022, at Palmer-Santin Funeral Home in Fullerton with Pastor Jim Parker officiating. Inurnment will be at Fullerton Cemetery in Fullerton with military honors by Fullerton American Legion Post # 151. Glenn Leroy Hopwood was born August 15, 1933 to Ernest and Margurite (Wolters) Hopwood at Fullerton, NE. Glenn attended school in Fullerton and graduated in 1952 with honors in basketball and track. After, he entered the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1954. In July 1957, he married Phyllis Pelican and they were together for 64 wonderful years. To this union, three children were born: Glenn, Constance, and Phillip. Glenn worked part-time while in school doing various jobs, but carpentry work was his true love. He started his construction career in Lincoln and, later, moved to Omaha. In 1967, he moved his family to Denver. He worked in home construction and later transitioned to commercial construction. During his career, he worked on the oldest home in Central City, CO and the tallest building in Denver. He also served as treasurer for the Carpenters and Millwrights Union in Denver. After retirement, they moved back to Palmer, NE, where they raised registered Shetland ponies. They traveled all over showing, carriage driving, and delivering ponies. He enjoyed camping and traveling with his children and grandchildren. After moving back to the farm in Nebraska, he always looked forward to when the grandchildren and great-grandchildren would visit in the summer. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis of Palmer; son, Glenn "Dan" Hopwood of Central City; daughter, Connie (Don) Krauss of Central City; grandchildren, Jason (Nicole) Hopwood of Aurora, CO, Neal (Lisa) LeBlanc of Lincoln, Phillip Hopwood of England, and Jenny (Seth) Nagel of Aurora, CO; great-grandchildren, Diamond LeBlanc, Everett LeBlanc, Nikolas Hopwood, Payton Hopwood, Vivienne Nagle, and Sammy Nagle; ex-daughter-in-law, Peggy Korbell of Parker, CO; sisters, Ruth Hagman of Broken Bow and Patty Wilhelmi of Grand Island; sisters-in-law, Margaret Hopwood of Richland, MO and Josephine (Gorden) Petersen of Denison, IA; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his son, Phillip Leroy Hopwood; his parents; brother, Rolland Hopwood; and brothers-in-law, George Hagman and Ralph Wilhelmi.
