Description	:	Glenn Merlin Glover, 82, of Mount Pleasant died Saturday, Aug. 13, 2011, at his home. Born June 3, 1929, in Mount Pleasant, he was the son of Frank and Else Carpenter Wellington. He was raised and later adopted by his paternal aunt and uncle, Richard and Belle Wellington Glover. On Sept. 14, 1950, he married Cora Treva Marshall in Mount Pleasant. Mr. Glover farmed west of Mount Pleasant raising crops and livestock until the late 1990s. Read More	Glenn Merlin Glover, 82, of Mount Pleasant died Saturday, Aug. 13, 2011, at his home. Born June 3, 1929, in Mount Pleasant, he was the son of Frank and Else Carpenter Wellington. He was raised and later adopted by his paternal aunt and uncle, Richard and Belle Wellington Glover. On Sept. 14, 1950, he married Cora Treva Marshall in Mount Pleasant. Mr. Glover farmed west of Mount Pleasant raising crops and livestock until the late 1990s. He worked at Fankhauser's Dairy, for Melvin Smith Construction, at Iowa Army Ammunition Plant and for 33 years in highway maintenance for Iowa Department of Transportation. He graduated from Mount Pleasant High School in 1947. He served 12 years in the Iowa National Guard. He was a member of First Baptist Church, where he served as an usher and on the finance committee. He played guitar with Don Long and the Donnolly brothers for special occasions at the church. He made furniture including cedar chests, tables, and quilt racks. He enjoyed clearing land on the farm, building bonfires for family wiener roasts, setting off fireworks for his grandchildren, NASCAR and stock car races and his daily Bible readings and devotions. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Connie Toenjes of Urbandale and Sheryl Buesch of Osceola; two grandchildren; one sister, Yoland Butler of Mount Pleasant; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, and two sisters. Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. today at Kimzey Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, where family will receive friends from 5 to 6 p.m. The funeral for Mr. Glover will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Regan Stoops officiating. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery in Mount Pleasant. Memorials have been established for First Baptist Church and University of Iowa Radiation Oncology Department.
