Glenys was born April 22, 1914, in Waverly, Iowa, the daughter of Celia Mary (Schumann) and Junius Erwin Stacy. She attended school in Waverly, and after graduating from the 8th grade, moved to Evanston, Illinois, where she worked as a telephone operator. Glenys was born April 22, 1914, in Waverly, Iowa, the daughter of Celia Mary (Schumann) and Junius Erwin Stacy. She attended school in Waverly, and after graduating from the 8th grade, moved to Evanston, Illinois, where she worked as a telephone operator. In 1931, she moved back to Waverly where she was employed by Marshall Canning Company. On June 17, 1933, Glenys was united in marriage to Louis C. Flege in the First Methodist Church in Marshalltown, Iowa. The couple made their home in Waverly. After raising her family, Glenys worked for Bremer Packing Co., Goodrich and Gallagher Produce Co., for 8 ½ years clerked at the Infelt Variety Store, and for 3 ½ years clerked at Roger's Discount Mart in Waverly. Louie suffered a heart attack in 1969, and Glenys retired from her job to care for him at home. Louie died in 1990. Glenys was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Waverly, where she was baptized and confirmed as an adult on December 9, 1935. She was also a member of Corinth Circle of the American Lutheran Church Women. Glenys for many years was active in Quilting with the St. Paul's Quilting Ladies and also with the Senior Citizen Quilting Ladies. Last February, Glenys was voted Valentine Day Queen at Bartels, and proudly wore the tiara she won. She also enjoyed driving, and possessed her drivers license until she was 95 years old. Glenys is survived by her son, Arlo and his wife Marilyn Flege of Waverly; daughter-in-law, Joelette Flege of Elk Run Heights, Iowa; two sisters, Berdean Hussey, of Northfield, MN, and Evelyn Minnaert, of Rochester, MN; one brother, Wilbert Stacy of Cedar Falls; 9 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by Louis; her parents; 2 sons Richard and Gary Lou; daughter-in-law, Delores Flege; two brothers Wayne and Delbert Stacy, and two grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, April 7, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Waverly, with Pastor Curt Schneider officiating. Visitation will be on Sunday, April 6, 2014, at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly, from 3 to 6 p.m., and one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Burial will follow at Harlington Cemetery in Waverly.
