Gloey Elizabeth Auner was born at Denver, Iowa, October 3, 1885. She died in Winfield, Kansas, April 6, 1912, aged 26 years, 6 months and 3 days. In 1900 she moved with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas J. Auner, to Curtis, Oklahoma. In 1903 she was united in marriage to Robert E. Bigham. To this union three children were born, two girls and one boy - Laura, Cela and James. Little Laura began her life with Jesus at the age of two years. Mr. and Mrs. Bigham came to Winfield in 1909, where they have since resided. Gloey was converted at the age of 17 and united with the Methodist church. She remained a faithful Christian and died with a prayer on her lips. Mrs. Bigham leaves a father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. T.J. Auner of Winfield; two brothers, W.H. Auner, of Denver, Iowa, who was unable to be present at her funeral, and Orval M. Auner of Winfield; three sisters, Mrs. F. Leroy Rice of Capron, Okla., Mrs. Will Stores of Winfield, and Miss Celia Auner of Winfield. She leaves these together with her husband and two children and a host of friends. We will miss Gloey, but we have the peace that comes from knowing she is well with Jesus. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. J.E. Hulet of the Free Methodist church, and the body was laid away in the Graham cemetery. (transcribed by Judy Mayfield) Dec. 2020
