She was born February 17, 1932 in St. Cloud, MN, the daughter of Paul and Goldie (Martin) Jones. She was raised and attended school in Sherwood. Gloria was a member of... Read More	Gloria Mayer February 17, 1932 – March 2, 2017 SHERWOOD – Gloria Mae (Jones) Mayer, 85, Sherwood, died Thursday, March 2, 2017, at a Minot hospital. She was born February 17, 1932 in St. Cloud, MN, the daughter of Paul and Goldie (Martin) Jones. She was raised and attended school in Sherwood. On July 26, 1950, Gloria and Donald Mayer were united in marriage at St. James Catholic Church in Sherwood. To this union, eight children were born: Kenneth, Bennie, BettyAnn, Eddie, Peggy, Lynn, Tom and Warren. They farmed his parents’ land until purchasing their own farm West of Sherwood. Gloria was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Sherwood and was very active in the church and community. She spent many hours visiting and putting puzzles together with friends from the Friendship Club at the Sherwood Senior Center. She was an integral part of helping start the Meals on Wheels program in Kenmare. Gloria found great joy in spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved cooking for her family and everyone loved her fresh baked bread. She had a “green thumb” and enjoyed watching her plants grow and flourish. She could always be found with a smile on her face. She will be remembered as a loving and caring person, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. To know her is to know love. Family: Gloria is survived by her children, Kenneth (Robyn) Mayer, of Sherwood, Bennie (Jean) Mayer, of Minot, BettyAnn Luchsinger, of Sherwood, Eddie (Bonny) Mayer, of Minot, Peggy (Kenneth) Traxel, of Lincoln, Thomas (Leah) Mayer, of Minot, and Warren (Annie) Mayer, of Minot; grandchildren, LeAnn (Lee) Lazier, of Towner, Melini (Dusty) Grosulak, of Dickinson, Ashley (Darren) Gottschall, of Kenmare, Eddie “Mitchell” (Lacey Dockter) Mayer, of Minot, Andrew (Susan) Traxel, Elisha (Greg) Peltz, and Dustin Traxel, all of Bismarck, Felicity Mayer, of Fargo, Hayden Mayer and Hayley Mayer, both of Minot; great-grandchildren, Isabelle Lazier, Denver, Heston and Ariah Grosulak, Abel Gottschall, Eric Munsch and Jacquelynn Traxel; siblings, Marvin Jones, of Sherwood, LeRoy Jones, of Mohall, Bev Werner, of Clarkdale, AZ, and Pauline (Everette) Schweitzer, of Berthold; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Gloria was preceded in death by: her parents, Paul and Goldie Jones; husband, Donald Mayer; son, Lynn Mayer; grandchildren, Christopher Traxel and Zachary Mayer. Funeral: 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 10, 2017, at St. James Catholic Church, Sherwood. Recitation of the Rosary: 7:00 p.m., Thursday, March 9, 2017, at the church.
