Stahly Goldie Marie Stahly, of Milford, widow of Clinton, died Saturday, December 25, 2004, at Memorial Hospital in Seward at the age of 93 years 2 months and 17 days. She was born on October 8, 1911 on a farm near Milford to Jacob B. and Maggie Sophia (Eicher) Stauffer. As a young girl she attended a country school and later worked as a Mother's helper for several Doctors in Lincoln. Goldie would ride the train in and work for the week then ride the train back home for the weekend. Goldie was employed in the nursery as a nurse aide at Memorial Hospital in Seward and loved taking care of the new babies (she kept mementos of each of the babies that she cared for). She later was employed in the kitchen at Sunrise Country Manor near Milford and also assisted with the activity programs for the residents. Together with Clinton, they volunteered many hours at the Peoples City Mission in Lincoln and at the Women's Prison in York. Goldie was a very warm and caring person to everyone she came in contact with and enjoyed her extended family. Goldie was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Milford. In her spare time, Goldie enjoyed gardening, especially raising flowers. Her garden at her home in town was a beautiful creation and a relaxing place to sit and "rest awhile". After she married Clinton and moved to the farm, Goldie created another garden of love. Goldie loved to decorate her home and entertain family and friends at special meals. She is survived by her step-children, Margaret Ann Hansen, Wayne, NE, Joan and Don Rouse, Lincoln, NE, and Dale and Marjorie Stahly, Milford, NE, six step-grandchildren, seven step-great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Goldie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Clinton in 2001, two brothers, Floyd O. and Sterling U. Stauffer. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 8, 2005 at the Assembly of God Church with Rev. David Geary officiating. Inurnment will take place at a later time at Pleasant View Cemetery, Rural Milford, Nebraska. Anatomical Donation, no visitation a book will be available for signing at Lauber-Moore Funeral Home, Milford, on Friday from 9am-5pm. Memorials have been established to the Gideon Society. Karen Geary organist accompanied Marie Garber as she sang "I've Got A Mansion" and Rev. David as he sang "I Can Only Imagine". The congregation sang "Tis So Sweet To Trust In Jesus".
