Description	:	Goldie Andersen Smidt Obituary Goldie P. Smidt, 95, Sioux Falls, S.D., formerly of Freeman, S.D., died on Monday, May 18, 2009 at Good Samaritan Lutheran Manor in Sioux Falls. Goldie was born June 9, 1913 to Charley and Mary Andersen of Freeman. She was baptized on Aug. 17, 1913 by O. H. Brodland and confirmed by Rev. J. M. Runestad. She married George Smidt on April 6, 1934 and he passed away on Jan. 11, 1988. A granddaughter remembered grandma baking all things sweet and gooey. Smidt, 95, Sioux Falls, S.D., formerly of Freeman, S.D., died on Monday, May 18, 2009 at Good Samaritan Lutheran Manor in Sioux Falls. Goldie was born June 9, 1913 to Charley and Mary Andersen of Freeman. She was baptized on Aug. 17, 1913 by O. H. Brodland and confirmed by Rev. J. M. Runestad. She married George Smidt on April 6, 1934 and he passed away on Jan. 11, 1988. A granddaughter remembered grandma baking all things sweet and gooey. Goldie loved gardening, her flowers and sharing them with family and friends. Goldie is lovingly remembered by her two children: Jim (Sharon) Smidt, Freeman and Marlene (Glenn) Sellevold, Custer, S.D.; eight grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She is preceded in death by her husband George; her parents; one sister; one brother; and two grandchildren. The funeral was held Thursday, May 21 at 10:30 a.m. at Salem Free Lutheran Church with Rev. Lee Stadem officiating. Organist was Liz Stadem with special music by Julian and JoAnn Brodland. Pallbearers were Steve Smidt, Austin Smidt, Josh Hofer, Mike Sellevold, Garet Tucker and Cody Sikkink. Honorary pallbearers were Goldie's grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Interment was at Salem Community Cemetery. CARD OF THANKS The family of Goldie Smidt expresses gratitude for your many kindnesses evidenced in your thought and deed, and for your attendance at the memorial service.
